BroadcastEngineering.com features BSI’s use of HD cameras to capture high-action race shots.

June 24, 2008 | Staff at BroadcastEngineering.com

Small HD cameras are now being utilized by Broadcast Sports to capture point-of-view racing shots for NASCAR, Indy Car, and American LeMans Series racing. Broadcast Sports is among the first to use these cameras that are the size of a golf ball, capturing live shots along the raceway from inside the race car, overhead and rear views, and pit crews. The cutting edge Iconix HD POV cameras, capture racing shots that are nearly impossible with larger cameras. Neil Ojason of Broadcast Sports is quoted as saying these cameras “have provided the two of the best shots of the season”. Although risks are involved with using such small cameras at such high speeds, and two cameras have been destroyed in crashes, they are “well worth the price for the value of the shots we gained”.
